Surviving British Diesel and Electric Locomotives Built for Export - 1960 to 1969

The following table lists known British-built diesel and electric locomotives for export that still exist. This is based on records compiled by Glyn Thomas. This list has been compiled from many sources, including Wikipedia and other Internet sources, plus various country-specific books and works lists.

A number of challenges occurred:

1. By it's very nature, the list is dynamic. The status of locomotives changes quickly for both 'in service' and preserved locomotives. Some parts of the world aren't regularly visited by enthusiasts so we're often depending on old visit reports.
2. We decided to omit locomotives built by international partnerships where the British company wasn't the prime contractor. This affects some technology transfer agreements, such as Union Carriage and Wagon in South Africa, Jessops in India, and Sorefame in Portugal.
3. We decided to omit English Electric locomotives built in their Rosslea, Australia plant and widely used in Australia.
4. Locomotives built for British Rail and subsequently exported are only included if they weren't repatriated while servicable.
5. At present, the list excludes most locomotives built primarily for industial service. In future this may be addressed but the situation is very complex and even more dynamic than common carrier railways.
